The Island of Love

Sulawesi, formerly known as Celebes is the world’s eleventh largest island.

What to Expect

Sulawesi, formerly known as Celebes is the world’s eleventh largest island. Situated between Borneo and the Maluku islands (the Moluccas), the island of Sulawesi slopes up from the shores of the deep seas surrounding the island to a high, mostly non-volcanic, mountainous interior. Being a part of Wallacea, Sulawesi’s species are a mix of both Asian and Australasian. Famous for its endemic mammals, a sea rich in biodiversity, pristine beaches and lush rainforest, Sulawesi is the perfect destination for avid divers and nature lovers seeking tranquility in hidden corners of paradise.

Literally translated as the love island,Pulo Cinta is located in the northern part of Sulawesi of the Minahasa Peninsula, Tomini Bay. Coincidentally, from the air the island seems to have a heart shape. Legend has it that long ago, the daughter of a Dutch trader fell in love with her father’s enemy, a Gorontalo prince. Every night they would escape to a secluded heart-shaped island out in the wide open ocean, away from the gunpowder and politics, to love one another in peace beneath the stars.

Venture off the beaten track to discover a world of exotic beauty and indulge in the nature while staying in over-water bungalows. Built using recycled materials and uses 100% solar power, Pulo Cinta is an eco-friendly resort that strives to cause minimum impacts to the environment; water and electricity are to be used wisely. Room is not air-conditioned however the bright and airy floor plan provides cool ocean breeze all day. Wake up to sunrise and roll-up blinds are handy if you want to sleep in. In the afternoon, sit on the front deck of your bungalow and enjoy sunset. A small ladder provides you a direct access to the water any time of the day, but step carefully to make sure you don’t disturb the corals or the sea urchin. This 5-day package is perfect for couples seeking a quiet and remote beach to celebrate love; to connect and to spend quality time with each other; all the while enjoying the sea rich in biodiversity. A wonderful experience for nature lovers who seek tranquility in hidden paradise.
