AirAsia Opens New Direct Flights From Mumbai to Bali
19 May 2017 | Written by Chris Alexander

In response to growing demand, AirAsia X – the long-haul brand of Malaysia’s AirAsia and Indonesia’s AirAsia – is set to launch a new direct flight connecting Mumbai and Bali from May 19, 2017.

The new flights will eliminate the time-consuming current need for transiting over Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Jakarta.

Indian tourists make up the fastest growing demographic in Indonesia’s tourism sector, increasing by 33.12% in the first two months of 2017 compared to the same period last year.

Indian tourists are currently third overall among all foreign visitors to Bali. Last year, Indian arrivals to the island increased by 57.12% compared to 2015. This growth has been due in part to the free 30-day visa-on-arrival made available to Indian nationals when visiting Bali, along with increased marketing and partnerships between Indonesia and the subcontinent.

AirAsia’s new service will operate on a daily basis, using an Airbus A330-300 aircraft configured to carry 365 passengers in economy and 12 in business/premium class.

The new flights are expected to precede even more impressive numbers of Indian arrivals to Bali over the coming months.
