04 May 2017 | Written by Chris Alexander

Garuda Indonesia has announced that all its international flights at will now arrive and depart at Terminal 3 – the newest terminal at Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta international airport.

In a statement, the President and CEO of Garuda, said: “Garuda is optimistic that Terminal 3 International will not only be a move to improve infrastructure and transportation service with global competitive advantage, but also a milestone for the development of tourism (in Indonesia).”

At the new terminal, Garuda has opened 26 check-in counters and increased its executive lounge capacity to 350 seats for business class and 56 seats for first class passengers. This has doubled the passenger capacity compared to the old facilities at Terminal 2. By July, the airline is expecting to operate 36 self check-in outlets and 10 boarding gates at the new location.

The move is expected to cut waiting times, speed up processing of passengers, increase the airport’s capacity and ultimately facilitate growth the number of visitors to Indonesia.

Garuda is the first airline to move all its operations to the airport’s newest terminal, with many more expected to make the switch shortly after the Lebaran holiday.
