Katamaran Resort: Leading the Way in Lombok
26 February 2019 | Written by Chris Alexander

Following the earthquake which hit Lombok in August last year, a number of hotels in Senggigi have used the rebuilding process as an opportunity to renovate, and have stepped up their game with ambitious redesigns of damaged facilities. One such hotel – Katamaran Resort – has even gained improved its occupancy rate due to effective sales and promotion programmes.

General Manager of Katamaran Resort Wayan Sudiarta said that the average occupancy rate now has risen to 50 per cent since the earthquake hit Lombok. The resort quickly took initiatives to renovate the facilities and resumed operation; It has recovered its neat and tidy look with tour cars picking up and dropping foreign tourists in their premises.

The renovation work was completed in October last year; It did not take long as the resort already had a strong construction. They only sustained minor damages, such as cracks in the walls. Wayan is also confident that with the coming Easter holiday in April and the Eid holiday in June in Indonesia, occupancy rates may reach up to 75 per cent by June 2019. Moreover, tourism in the region is expected to recover sooner than expected, with plans for more seaports and direct flights to the island.
