New Direct Jakarta-London Service From Garuda Indonesia
26 September 2017 | Written by Chris Alexander

As part of the airline’s effort to deliver seamless connectivity between the United Kingdom and Indonesia, Garuda Indonesia has announced it will begin a new Jakarta-London non-stop flight from 31st October 2017.

Garuda will fly direct to and from London Heathrow three times per week, with the new flights scheduled every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The new route will be serviced by Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft, each with a capacity for 314 passengers, consisting of 8 First Class seats, 38 Business Class seats and 268 in Economy Class.

President Director of Garuda Indonesia Pahala Nugraha Mansury said the new non-stop service forms part of Garuda’s commitment to reduce flight duration for this popular journey below 15 hours.

“With the operation of this service, Garuda Indonesia will become the only airline that has the fastest, most convenient and efficient nonstop flight service from Indonesia to UK and Europe,” confirmed Mr. Pahala.

Furthermore, passengers on the new flights will be able to connect to the Internet during their journey, thanks to Garuda’s new ‘Inflight Connectivity’ service. This will enable passengers to continue their work tasks, watch live sporting events and access television broadcasts from six international channels (CNN International, BBC World, BBC Arabic, NHK World Premium, Euronews and CNBC).

“We would like to introduce this non-stop service not only to reflect the growing profile of Jakarta as a hub for international and domestic travel, but also as a new service that allows UK service users as well as frequent flyers members incorporated in the SkyTeam alliance to gain connectivity,” said Pahala.

Garuda Indonesia recently moved all its international flights to the new Terminal 3 at Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta Airport, coinciding with this latest service, which, according to Pahala, has been the company’s top priority since they reopened the route. Terminal 3 is now the main hub of Garuda Indonesia for international and domestic travel.

Garuda Indonesia is Indonesia’s national airline, flying to more than 36 countries worldwide and connecting 40 domestic destinations within Indonesia. Garuda Indonesia was awarded the Best Regional Airline in the World awarded by Skytrax and was named in the top 10 globally by TripAdvisor in 2017. The airline currently carries more than 25 million passengers annually.
