New Flights To Banyuwangi From Garuda
13 September 2017 | Written by Chris Alexander

Indonesia’s national flag carrier, Garuda Indonesia has begun operations on a new direct flight from Jakarta to Banyuwangi in East Java.

The inaugural flight departed from Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta Airport on 8th September, and continues to operate a regular flight schedule on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Flights depart Jakarta at 2:10 p.m. and arrive at Blimbingsari Airport in Banyuwangi at 3:55 p.m. The return flight leaves Banyuwangi at 5:10 p.m. and arrives in Jakarta in 6:50 p.m.

With this new route, Blimbingsari Airport in Banyuwangi will now welcome a total of six flights every day. Garuda Indonesia joins fellow airlines Nam Air and Wings Air in running flights to Blimbingsari.

The additional route from Garuda Indonesia should ease the connectivity issues in the areas surrounding Banyuwangi such as Jember, Bondowoso, Situbondo and West Bali. Indonesian Minister for Tourism, Arief Yahya, has encouraged Banyuwangi to build an international airport, thereby optimizing the strategic potential of its location. With the presence of an international airport, Banyuwangi could potentially reach a target of 100,000 annual overseas tourists by 2019.
