31 March 2017 | Written by Chris Alexander

AirAsiaX Indonesia have announced a set of new low-cost flights connecting Bali and Tokyo, set to launch in May.

In a report from The Jakarta Globe, the new route has already been approved by the Japanese and Indonesian governments, and is set to start operations on 24th May, 2017. This added connection is expected to benefit the economies of both countries.

The new flight route will operate four times a week, flying on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The Airline will use Airbus A330-300 Airbus equipment that can accommodate up to 337 passengers and features 12 premium flatbed seats. Flights from Tokyo will depart at 8.25 a.m local time and land in Denpasar at 2.25 p.m.

This latest development is a response to the growing number of Japanese tourists wishing to visit Bali and the surrounding islands of Indonesia. With increased capacity for inbound flights from Japan, Indonesia’s tourism sector is set to continue its recent growth into 2017 and beyond.
