Exploration Journeys

Once the seats of powerful kingdoms, Java and Bali have rich and distinctively unique cultural legacies. Panorama Destination offers overland and round-trip tour packages that allow visitors to explore fascinating museums, ancient monuments and some of the most amazing temples of Central Java, Yogyakarta and Bali.

in Central java the famous Borobudur monument is a huge 8th century Buddhist temple embellished with stone reliefs and 72 stupas, each containing a statue of the Buddha. Candi Prambanan is a majestic 9th century hindu temple situated on the boundary between central Java and Yogyakarta provinces. A large complex of individual temples with a 47-meters-tall central building, candi prambanan is the largest hindu temple in Indonesia and one of the largest in Southeast Asia.

Yogyakarta is the home of Javanese culture. Here, visitors can visit the 18th century sultan’s royal palace, a living museum with a variety of collections, including ceramics, weapons and batiks. Nearby taman sari water castle is a former royal garden. Built in the 18th century, the garden served as a rest and meditation area for the royal family.

Many ancient temples adorn the coastal areas and highlands of Bali. The most important of these includes Tanah Lot, a beautiful Hindu shrine that sits on a rocky outcrop just off the shore at Beraban. Surrounded by sea the temple is accessible on foot only at low tide. Another famous sea temple, pura luhur uluwatu sits on a cliff top 70 meters above the waves. Along with ancient architecture, the temple offers spectacular ocean and sunset views. Besakih is a grand complex of clan temples and shrines on the slopes of mount agung. It is the largest and holiest of the island’s temples and takes a full day to explore the entire temple complex.
