On Monday 22 July 2019, Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Dr Mahathir Mohamad, launched the new ‘Visit Malaysia Year 2020’ (VMY2020) official campaign logo at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
The VMY2020 logo features various icons of Malaysia, such as the hornbill, hibiscus, wild fern and colours of the Malaysian flag. Together, they represent the diversity of Malaysia’s culture, heritage, flora and fauna, as well as experiences offered as a holiday destination.
After the launch of the VMY2020 logo, the Prime Minister called on Malaysians to share with the world the country’s national attributes. “Tourists will expect to find their hosts hospitable, always smiling and helpful,” said Mahathir. “Help them get to know Malaysia,” he continued.
PM Mahathir also witnessed the exchange of Memorandum of Joint Promotion ceremony between Tourism Malaysia and various parties, namely Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, Firefly, Malindo Air, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad and Sharp (M) Electronics Sdn. Bhd.
The VMY2020 campaign focuses on ecotourism, arts and culture, with the tagline: “Visit Truly Asia Malaysia 2020”. The campaign is targeting an estimated 30 million tourist arrivals and RM100 billion tourist receipts next year.
