Bangkok River Cruise by Banyan Tree Hotel
05 December 2019 | Written by Chris Alexander

Visitors to Thailand’s capital can now experience an exclusive dining experience on the city’s Chao Phraya River, courtesy of a brand-new service offered by the Banyan Tree Bangkok Hotel.

Named ‘Saffron Cruise’, the journey takes guests past a range of celebrated sightseeing locations and iconic cultural hot spots along the banks of Bangkok’s most famous river. Highlights of the cruise include The Grand Palace, Wat Arun (the Temple of Dawn), Asiatique and the Royal Barge Museum.

Saffron Cruise is the creation of Banyan Tree’s in-hotel restaurant, also named The Saffron. Setting off on a 38-metre-long luxury barge with its own show-kitchen, restaurant and bar, the restaurant’s culinary team will showcase Banyan Tree’s culinary creations on the go.

The vessel itself features an open-air main deck for alfresco daytime and evening dining, where guests can enjoy a range of signature Thai dishes. Named after a similar feature back at the hotel, The Moon Deck is a rooftop area offering panoramic views of Bangkok’s urban scenery, alongside an on-board bar, lounge and Sky Bridge.

Sunset cruises are available daily, with one standard drink included at the Moon Deck, or guests can opt for the daily dinner cruise, which includes a five-course Thai set menu, complete with a cocktail on Moon Deck. Featuring a range of on-board entertainment and cultural performances, the cruise is an ideal way to experience Thai culture, cuisine and scenery all in one go.

Saffron Cruise is ideally suited to sightseeing trips, MICE excursions, family gatherings and celebrations. A range of private charter packages also offer cooking classes combined with spa treatments from the Banyan Tree Spa, while engagement parties and wedding ceremonies can also be arranged.

Conveniently located in the Sathon/Silom area of Bangkok, the 5-star Banyan Tree Hotel is easily connected to many different parts of the city via BTS (skytrain) or MRT (underground), both of which can be found just 15 minutes’ walk from the hotel; the hotel provides free transfers to both stations by traditional Thai Tuk Tuk.

Banyan Tree Bangkok offers a range of luxurious accommodation, with world-class dining experiences, meeting and event spaces, and an award-winning spa. Other facilities include an outdoor swimming pool, health club, kids’ playroom, a lounge, ballroom and a gallery.
