The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced Thailand’s great performance in Travel + Leisure magazine’s The World’s Best Awards 2019. The Land of Smiles was a feature in multiple Top 10 and Top 15 lists thanks to its stellar range of destinations, hotels and resorts.
Chiang Mai and Bangkok were named in ‘The Top 15 Cities in the World’ this year. The two cities also made it into the ‘The Top 10 Cities in Asia’, marking Bangkok’s 10th consecutive year being voted into this category. While in the ‘The 15 Best Islands in the World’ and ‘The Top 10 Islands in Asia’, Ko Lanta earned itself spots in the two categories.
Thailand dominated the ‘Top 15 Southeast Asia Resort Hotels’ list, with 10 places going to Thai properties. Thailand’s resort hotels in this list include: Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai, Anantara Chiang Mai Resort, Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui, Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas, JW Phuket Resort & Spa, and more.
For ‘The Top 15 Resort Hotels in Asia’, Six Senses Yao Noi, Anantara Hua Hin Resort and Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort made it into the category, whilst Lebua at State Tower was featured on the list of ‘The 10 Best City Hotels in Asia’.
The World’s Best Awards are based on an annual reader survey, in which Travel + Leisure readers vote for their favourite airline, airport, destination, hotel, cruise and other categories.
