Thailand to Welcome Three New Marriott Hotels
02 December 2019 | Written by Chris Alexander

In the next four years, Marriott Hotels will open three brand-new hotels across Thailand, following the recent agreement of a development project signed with Asset World Corporation (AWC). Together with the local hospitality firm, Marriott will add around 1,550 keys to their growing Thai portfolio between 2020 and 2024.

The first property to open its doors will be the 248-room Courtyard by Marriott, due to begin operations in Phuket towards the end of 2020. The new Courtyard branding will come into effect following an upgrade of the existing Metropole Phuket Hotel, located in the centre of Phuket town. When completed, the hotel will feature two new dining outlets and, in a development designed for MICE visitors, approximately 2,000m² of cutting-edge meeting facilities.

As part of the AWC agreement, Pattaya will also welcome two new properties: the Marriott Marquis hotel, featuring around 900 rooms; and a 398-room JW Marriott hotel. Put together, The Pattaya Beach Resort & Spa and Pattaya Marriott Marquis Hotel will offer a total of 1,298 guest rooms, 11 F&B outlets and more than 10,000m² of space devoted to conventions, events and meeting spaces.

Marriott International currently operates a total of nine hotels and resorts in Thailand; a portfolio comprising properties in Bangkok (3), Hua Hin (1), Phuket (2), Phuket Island (2) and Rayong (1). The Courtyard by Marriott brand presents mid-priced hotels designed for business travellers but also catering for families. As such, all rooms feature desks, couches and free Internet access. The majority of locations offer a bistro, which sells freshly cooked breakfasts, appetizers, sandwiches, and more. AWC is one of the largest owners of Marriott International properties in Asia-Pacific, with more than 4,200 rooms across Thailand.
