On Tour

ACCOMODATION
Hotels have been selected on the basis of atmosphere, location, cleanliness and staff hospitality. Jakarta has the largest choice of four star hotels in the country. The hotels in the outer regions are generally of a slightly lower standard. High hotel taxes are charged in the tourist areas (10% service plus 10% government tax).  The hotels are clean and well maintained, have air-conditioning, heating and will have a restaurant and bar and bedrooms with one double or two twin beds and a private bathroom with bath and/or shower.

MEALS
All breakfasts are included in the touring portion of your holiday.  Some other meals are optional to allow you to experiment with the local cuisine. The guide can suggest dishes and share them with the group or you can simply order a dish for yourself.  Almost every type of international cuisine is available in Jakarta, the most popular being Chinese, French, Italian, Japanese and Korean. Indonesia’s spices make its cuisine unique. Specialities include:
rijstafel (an Indonesian/Dutch combination of meat, fish, vegetables and curries), sate ( chunks of beef, fish, pork and chicken cooked in hot coals and dipped in peanut sauce), ajam ungkap ( deep fried marinated chicken). Indonesians like their food hot and spicy so be warned. Features of Jakarta are the many warungs (street stalls) each specialises in its own dish or drink.

TRANSPORT
Transport will be provided in air-conditioned minibus or midsized buses.  The road conditions in Indonesia are good asphalt road and reasonable. All transport is provided and organised whilst on the tour.
