Vietnam Temporarily Closes to UK & Schengen Arrivals
16 March 2020 | Written by Chris Alexander

Vietnam has decided to temporarily block entry to citizens of the UK and Schengen countries, along with any other travellers who have travelled through these countries within the last 14 days. These drastic measures have been put in place to safeguard the country against any further instances of coronavirus.

The decision was taken on 13th March by the Government of Vietnam, and will come into effect from 12:00pm Vietnam time on Sunday, 15th March, 2020. At this time, the ban is expected to last one month, until 15th April, 2020.

In addition, Vietnam will also suspend the issuance of visas at the border for foreigners, while a more stringent screening and quarantine process is also set to be implemented; all travellers will be held for 24 hours upon arrival while being tested, then any confirmed positive for COVID-19 will be held for a further two weeks in a quarantine facility in Vietnam.
