Apurva Kempinski Bali Opens Stylish New Restaurant
08 August 2019 | Written by Chris Alexander

The Apurva Kempinski Bali Hotel recently unveiled Izakaya by OKU, their brand-new new signature Japanese restaurant. Inspired by the award-winning OKU Restaurant at Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta, Izakaya by OKU is a modern Japanese restaurant with an atelier concept.

With enough room for 60 seated guests, the restaurant feels intimate, but with a communal ethos and ambiance. Open every night of the week from 6-11pm, it offers the post-work and pre-party crowd an elegant new setting for getting their evening started. The word ‘Izakaya’ refers to a well-known after-work hub in Japan, where people traditionally gather to eat together.

With earthy wooden décor and subdued lighting, Izakaya by OKU is the ideal place to experience Japanese dining culture in the heart of Nusa Dua. The restaurant features an open kitchen, allowing guests to observe dishes being prepared and marvel at the chefs’ craftsmanship.

Chef Deni Koswara, who was inspired by traditional Japanese methodology and ingredients, has curated a creative and eye-catching menu for Izakaya by OKU. Dishes on offer include Karasumi Pasta, OKU Kaarage, OKU Aburi Salmon Roll, Truffle Gyu Don, Saikyo Cod and Mizu, along with “Okukase” – an enticing five-course and seven-course Chef’s degustation menu paired with sakes and signature cocktails, crafted by the restaurant’s very own sake sommelier.

The Apurva Kempinski Bali is a five-star resort in Bali, located atop a cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean. In addition to the new Izakaya by OKU restaurant, the resort features 475 iconic rooms, suites and villas, along with authentic indigenous spa treatments, spacious meeting rooms and even its own chapels, perfectly suited to luxurious and elegant wedding ceremonies.
