Panorama Collaborates with Galasys to Bring Chinese Tourists to Indonesia
08 September 2016 | Written by Chris Alexander

September - In an effort to increase the number of tourist arrivals to Indonesia from China, Panorama Sentrawisata and its subsidiary, Panorama Destination have signed an agreement with Galasys Plc under its subsidiary, OM Solutions which based in China. Both are IT companies develop software and digital platforms for Online Travel Agents (OTA), bringing greater potential for promotion and sales of the Panorama product online, directly targeting the growing Chinese market.

The number of tourist arrivals from China continues to increase every year in Indonesia. In 2015, the country saw an increase of 17 per cent in the number of visitors to Bali compared to the previous year. Panorama has been aiming to capture the market potential of China since the beginning of 2015, when the company’s business strategy was set in place. “The market was large and already beginning to form, so we needed to understand how exactly we can catch this opportunity in a proper manner”, explained AB Sadewa, Senior Vice President of Brand and Communications at PT Panorama Sentrawisata Tbk.

Galasys Plc currently controls a 70 per cent market share of ticket sales at theme parks in China. “A market share like this would have big potential for the development of leisure products in Indonesia, where China is one of the largest tourist contributors in the world, “added Sadewa. This cooperation between Panorama and Galasys has been made in response to – and in anticipation of – the changing ways in which Chinese tourists are travelling to Indonesia.

Currently around 80 per cent of Free Individual Travellers (FIT) make their travel bookings through an Online Travel Agent (OTA). This collaboration between Panorama and Galasys Plc will harness the growth potential of the Chinese tourist sector with a Cloud Online Travel Agents (CLOTA) marketing model.

Traditional Travel Agents (TTA) had dominated the market, but this new development makes products available in the online channel too. “Panorama has a product, Galasys has the digital platform for transaction systems, payment gateway and a network of online distribution channels linked to the Chinese market,” concluded Sadewa.

The products to be included in the Galasys CLOTA marketing system include featured tours to Bali and beyond – destinations such as Wakatobi, Lake Toba, Cinta island and Lombok. Renato Domini, CEO of Panorama Destination, also stated his intentions to develop this range of tours still further: “within the next year, we will continue to develop products that offer new destinations so the purpose of this cooperation can be achieved.”

“This new partnership is expected to increase the number of Chinese visitors to Indonesia by 200,000 by the middle of next year.” Added Sales Director Galasys Plc for Asia, Mr. Howard Lai.
