COMO Hotels Set to Open New Bali Resort
28 September 2017 | Written by Chris Alexander

A brand-new beachside resort is coming to Bali’s south coast in the New Year. COMO Hotels and Resorts have announced they will open COMO Uma Canggu in February 2018.

COMO Uma Canggu will be located in Canggu, away from the Kuta crowds in a coastal village just seven miles from neighbouring Seminyak and home to six miles of long sandy beach. The property is spread out across 2.2 acres of land, comprising rooms, suites, one- and two-bedroom residences and three-bedroom duplex penthouses with individual rooftop pools.

The area is home to a little-known surf scene, with excellent curling breaks and a carefree vibe, where guests can enjoy the waves just outside their door. Experienced riders can take on some of the best tubes on Bali’s west coast, whilst longboarders will love Old Man’s beach, with its 10ft swell and big open face. Beginners can mix up surf tuition, yoga and spa with hours in a sun lounger at the new COMO Beach Club that forms the hub of the resort. More adventurous surfers can spend the whole day on empty breaks reachable only by boat.

The design team has worked with COMO before; Koichiro Ikebuchi worked on COMO’s two Bali locations (COMO Uma Ubud was his first resort project) and Paola Navone designed COMO Point Yamu, Phuket, and COMO Metropolitan Miami Beach. Landscape designer Trevor Hillier has also worked with COMO in the Caribbean, Bali and Bhutan. The team describe their work on COMO Uma Canggu as “demonstrative of modern Asian architecture: low-lying, sleek and contemporary.”

COMO Hotels and Resorts offer luxury travel experiences with personalised service in elegant properties, each individually curated to reflect its location. COMO Uma Canggu focuses on wellness, as well as world-class cuisine and exacting service. The COMO Shambhala Retreat has seven treatments rooms (five singles and two doubles) and offers the signature COMO Shambhala Massage, deep tissue massage, yoga and Pilates classes, along with personal training in the gym.

This will be the travel group’s third property on Bali and their 14th in total, with other locations including Miami Beach, Bhutan, Western Australia and Bangkok.
