Garuda Doubles Jakarta-Banyuwangi Flight Frequency
16 July 2019 | Written by Chris Alexander

Garuda Indonesia’s flight frequency on the Jakarta-Banyuwangi route has officially been expanded, from seven times per week to 14 times per week. This additional flight frequency has been implemented by the airline to improve its services and to meet customers’ high demand for the route.

The additional flights are coded GA 270, scheduled daily at 6 AM. The service uses Bombardier CRJ 1000 aircraft with capacity for 96 passengers. Garuda Indonesia’s vice president corporate secretary, M. Ikhsan Rosan stated on 21 June 2019 that promising tourism growth in Banyuwangi has encouraged the airline to support the region through additional flight frequency.

Garuda Indonesia is optimistic that the expansion of this service will boost Banyuwangi as a travel destination, helping to promote the region’s many attractive travel hot spots, such as lakes, beaches, volcanoes and national parks. One of the most popular beaches in Banyuwangi is the Plengkung beach (or G-Land); a renowned destination for surfers.

Another popular destination in Banyuwangi is Baluran National Park, home to a protected area comprising forest, coast and savannah, which is also commonly known as Africa Van Java, as the park bears a striking resemblance to the Serengeti in Africa.
