Arguably one of Asia’s biggest music festivals, Java Jazz Festival (JJF) is back for its 19th year in the nation’s capital. From 24-26 May, JJF 2024 will be held at the Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran (JIEXpo). And the theme of this year’s show puts togetherness in the spotlight.
“In every General Election year, we always use a tagline that uses music as unity,” explained President Director of PT Java Festival Productions, Dewi Gontha, during a press conference held in Jakarta on 20 March. “That’s why this year’s tagline is ‘Embracing Unity Through Music,’” she added.
Every year Java Jazz brings together an eclectic mix of local and international jazz musicians, combining a rich array of styles and cultural influences. JJF 2024 will unfold across 11 high-tech stages, with a schedule of events that emphasis unity through the power of music and the arts.
Artists already confirmed in the line-up include some of Indonesia’s finest musicians, such as Ananda Badudu, Bilal Indrajaya, Rahmania Astrini, Warna Reunited, Romantic Echoes, Coldiac, and Barry Likumahuwa & The Rhythm Service: “Salute The Rollies “.
These local talents will be joined by international acts such as Icelandic soloist Laufey, October London, The Yussef Dayes Experience, Yakul, Eliane Elias, Incognito and The Amy Winehouse Band.
Dewi insists the line-up offers something for everyone, regardless of age or taste. “The line-up of artists and musicians is designed to appeal to all, with visitors able to choose what they want to see based on preference or mood,” said the festival’s President Director. “So there are those that are intended to convert young people and also those that invite their children or even grandchildren,” she added. Tickets for the 2024 Java Jazz Festival are on sale via the official website, with two categories available: a Daily Pass, priced at IDR 850,000; and a Three-day Pass, which costs IDR 1,975,000. As the main headline act, Laufey is considered a ‘special show’, for which tickets cost an additional IDR 400,000.
