On 28th December, Batik Air officially launched a new direct flight connecting Shenzhen in China to Batam in Indonesia’s Riau Islands. The new route is scheduled to operate three times weekly into 2020, with flights available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The new flights depart from Bao’an Shenzhen International Airport in China’s Guangdong province at 1:50 a.m. local time, before arriving in Batam’s Hang Nadim International Airport at 4:45 a.m. The return flights depart from Batam on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, taking off at 7:45 p.m. and arriving in Shenzhen at 00:40 a.m. local time.

The service is supported by Airbus 320-200CEO aircraft, fitted with 12 business class seats and 144 economy class seats in total. In-flight entertainment is available in all seats.

Conveniently located between Singapore and the Malacca Strait, Batam is a popular tourist location and a hot spot for business travel, particularly for flyers from China and Singapore. The region is famous for its natural wonders and culinary delights, with many coastal regions offering beaches, island hopping and seafood. Shenzhen is the fourth city in China served by Batik Air, after Guilin, Kunming and Nanning.

A subsidiary of low-cost carrier Lion Air, Batik Air caters to more than 45 Indonesian and international destinations, with up to 350 flights in the air each day.
