New Deal For Air France and Singapore Airlines

In a move expected to increase the number of European tourist visits to Southeast Asia, Singapore Airlines has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Air France-KLM. Under the terms of the agreement, both airlines will codeshare on their network of flights from Europe.

Effective 27th April 2017, the national carrier penned a Memorandum of Understanding with Air France-KLM to codeshare on multiple routes from Paris.

SIA will place its ‘SQ’ flight code on Air France-operated flights from Paris to Aberdeen, Bordeaux, Edinburgh, Lisbon, Lyon, Madrid, Marseille, Newcastle, Nice and Toulouse.

Air France will likewise attribute its ‘AF’ code to SIA’s flights from Singapore to Melbourne and Sydney, along with SilkAir-operated flights to Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Phuket.

“Our new partnership with Air France-KL offers significant benefits to customers through enhanced connections and increased codeshare destinations,” said Tan Kai Ping, SIA’s senior vice president of marketing planning. “In addition, this new agreement provides a strong foundation for future commercial co-operation opportunities between our two airline groups.

“It is also another example of our commitment to the Singapore hub and the European market,” he added.

In a statement on behalf of Air France, Patrick Roux (Senior Vice President of Alliances) said the deal will “significantly improve the connections for Air France customers from Singapore to Australia. This kind of partnership is part of our aim to expand our market position and increase our range of destinations for our customers all around the world.”

The deal between Singapore Airlines and Air France will significantly increase the number of flights and passengers travelling to the region over the coming months.

SIA and Air France-KLM have also confirmed they will continue to expand the codeshare agreement in future, including new routes with other airlines in their respective groups.
