16 December 2019 | Written by Chris Alexander

Malaysia Airlines is focusing on growing their UK team and appointing key staff to important positions, in preparation for the Visit Malaysia 2020 campaign in Europe, set to roll out in January.

In the last few months, the national flag carrier has moved a number of its personnel to their London office, in anticipation of a big promotional push for flights to Malaysia in the first months of 2020. Getting a head start on the initiative, the airline’s structural changes came into effect on 2 December 2019.

“This represents a very exciting time for Malaysia Airlines, as we look to grow the business further in the UK and Europe, and make the Visit Malaysia 2020 campaign a great success,” says Daniel Bainbridge, who is Malaysia Airlines’ regional manager for the UK, Europe & North America. “The recent restructuring and recruitment will add strength and depth to an already strong team, and I look forward to working with them in ensuring the continued success of Malaysia Airlines,” he added.

As part of the expansion, Richard De Villa will be promoted to head of marketing in the UK & Europe, overseeing the increased investment in trade as well as consumer market activity. Natalie Kromponi will become the head of UK leisure and direct sales, supported by Cheun Yin Tran. Additionally, Martyn Bell has been appointed account manager of corporate sales, tasked with growing the corporate MICE business.

Operating flights from Kuala Lumpur International Airport and from secondary hubs in Kota Kinabalu and Kuching to destinations throughout Asia, Oceania and Europe, Malaysia Airlines is a part of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG); a global aviation organisation with subsidiaries and equity investments organised into four distinct business segments: Air Transportation Services, Ground Services, Aircraft Leasing and Talent Development. Malaysia Airlines is the flag carrier of Malaysia and a member of the One World Airline Alliance. The company headquarters are located at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
