Marriott has announced the opening of Courtyard by Marriott Penang – the first of its kind in Malaysia. Located on Jalan Macalister in Penang’s UNESCO-listed George Town, Courtyard by Marriott Penang is geared towards both business and leisure travellers.

“We are thrilled to continue to grow our presence in Malaysia with the opening of Courtyard by Marriott Penang,” says Rajeev Menon, president, Asia Pacific, Marriott International. “Designed for today’s ambitious and enterprising traveller, the opening of Courtyard by Marriott Penang marks Marriott International’s 17th brand in Malaysia and further compliments our growing footprint in the country,” he added.

A total of 199 spacious rooms and suites offer plush bedding, smart TVs, free Wi-Fi and unobstructed 360-degree views of George Town. The hotel features an outdoor infinity pool overlooking Penang Hill and a 24-hour gym to help guests stay energized. Penang Kitchen is the hotel’s own restaurant, offering a mix of authentic local favourites and international delights. The Pool Bar serves a selection of cocktails, mocktails and beverages.

The property is ideally suited to meetings and events, thanks to a ballroom that can accommodate up to 150 guests. The hotel also features eight state-of-the-art meeting rooms and one VIP room, each fitted with the latest audio-visual equipment. An open-air poolside deck overlooks the bustling, colourful streets of George Town.

“There is a lot of anticipation for the launch of the Courtyard by Marriott brand in Malaysia and we are committed to delivering a welcoming experience that inspires and re-energises guests at an affordable price point,” said Subash Basrur, general manager of the hotel. “As a beloved destination for business and leisure travellers, we look forward to welcoming both domestic and international guests to experience our inviting hospitality and uplifting spaces,” he added.
