Qatar Airways’ Flies from Doha to Langkawi
24 July 2019 | Written by Chris Alexander

Starting from 15 October 2019, Qatar Airways will begin direct flights from Hamad International Airport in Doha, to Langkawi International Airport in Malaysia.

According to a statement made by Datuk Muzammil Mohamad, Qatar Airways Country Manager for Malaysia and Brunei, at a press conference on 4 July 2019, the new schedule will offer four flights in total each week, departing on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. From 27 October, another flight will be added on Fridays, taking the total to five flights a week from Doha to Langkawi.

Muzammil stated that the new flights will use Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, which can carry more than 250 passengers. He also conveyed that these flights will make it easier for tourists to visit Langkawi, as they will no longer have to go to Kuala Lumpur and change planes, but rather board in Doha and fly direct to Langkawi.

“The demand and bookings for flights to Langkawi have been very encouraging. More interestingly, we see demand from countries where the people have most likely never been to this island,” said Muzammil. “Qatar Airways flies to more than 160 destinations globally, and now Langkawi will see more tourists from various countries,” he added.
