The Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa in Kuala Lumpur is set to benefit from a major renovation, as part of a US$60 million investment by Malaysia’s Sunway Group. The ambitious development project is expected to create a new benchmark for business and leisure experiences in the nation’s capital, turning the integrated hospitality complex into a regional beacon for premier entertainments and hospitality in Asia.
The 478-room property will be revamped and expanded, with plans to incorporate six cascading waterfalls and two landscaped pools alongside extensive family and health facilities. The world-renowned Hero restaurant brand will also make its debut, as part of an enhanced destination experience. The new and improved Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa is slated to reopen to the public from March 2021.
“We built Sunway City Kuala Lumpur with Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa at its heart,” explains Jeffrey Cheah, founder and chairman of Sunway Group. “But now we need to step into the future as we embrace a new generation of leisure and business guests and bring together Sunway City Kuala Lumpur as one fully integrated premier hospitality and entertainment destination that will rival the very best in the world.”
The updated resort will feature a range of dramatic new facilities, along with subtle touches to improve the overall guest experience. New offerings include specialist suites, pool villas and the integration of cutting-edge technology, such as smartphone key entry and motion sensors. For travellers in search of health and wellness on their holidays, the resort will provide a holistic experience, covering everything from state-of-the-art live online fitness coaching, to chromotherapy showers and wellness lighting powered by Sunway Medical Centre to assist in sleeping.
