The Sky’s the Limit: New Theme Park Opens in February
03 February 2022 | Written by Chris Alexander

One of the most eagerly awaited attractions in Southeast Asia is now ready to open in Pahang, Malaysia. The Genting SkyWorlds theme park will officially open its doors to the public from 8 February onwards, with advance tickets going on sale at 10 am tomorrow (4/2).

“We are now ready to reveal our theme park to the world,” announced Lee Thiam Kit, Head of Business Operations and Strategies at Genting Malaysia Berhad. “This game-changing new themed attraction will put Malaysia and Pahang on the world tourism map,” he added.

Built with an investment of over US$800 million, Genting SkyWorlds covers an area of 26 acres at an elevation of 6,000 feet above sea level. The park will take visitors on a sky-high adventure through nine movie- and adventure-inspired ‘worlds’, each of which combines 26 rides and attractions with various other original entertainment features.

During the soft opening period, which runs from 8 February to 31 March 2022, Genting SkyWorlds are offering a 20% discount on all tickets. After booking online, guests are encouraged to download the free Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park mobile app via Google Play, Apple App Store and Huawei AppGallery.

The app will help provide guests with a virtual tour of the park prior to arrival, giving them a head-start on what to do, where to go and how to get there. They can also check wait times for rides, attractions and shows; receive promotional offers and discount vouchers; discover dining, shopping and games; and access the park’s advanced Photo+ service.

The app is also integrated with the park’s Virtual Queue (VQ) technology; an intelligent feature, which, according to Greg Pearn, the Vice President and Head of Operations at the park, will “reduce long waits in physical lines, giving guests more freedom to do what they want AND at a time they choose!”

Pearn also confirmed that other features of Genting SkyWorlds VQ include boarding groups for multiple ticket holders; recommended itineraries based on personal preferences; and real-time alerts for attraction reservations, availability and must-see entertainment.

Operated by Genting Malaysia Berhad (GENM), Genting SkyWorlds is suitable for guests of all ages. Attractions include Eagle Mountain, Central Park, Liberty Lane, Robots Rivet Town, Andromeda Base, Ice Age, Studio Plaza, Epic and Rio; each of the nine ‘worlds’ host a range of exciting rides and installations, alongside various retail, dining and entertainment experiences.
