Indonesia named ‘Best Destination’ in Vakantiebeurs 2019, identified as destination with growth potential

Jakarta 6 February 2019.  Indonesia was named “The Best Destination” at the Reisraag Awards on 10th January 2019. Vakantiebeurs is the largest tourism exhibition for the Benelux area, where the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg comprise some of largest markets for foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia.

Panorama Destination, as an inbound company in Indonesia, has been bringing foreign tourists to Indonesia for more than 40 years. The company currently has more than 50% market share from Europe, especially Western Europe.

Using a business to business (B2B) sales model, which cooperates with local travel agents in the clients’ country of origin, Panorama Destination has built strong networks to attract tourists to Indonesia through a combination of travel agent partnerships,  travel fairs and travel marts.

Earlier this year, the company participated in a number of travel fairs similar to Vakantibeurs, one of which was MATKA 2019 in Finland. MATKA is a travel mart event that is targeted to attract foreign tourist arrivals from Nordic countries (Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark). In addition, Panorama Destination also attended the ATF 2019 travel mart held in Vietnam, to attract the ASEAN market; and SATTE 2019 in India to attract the South Asia (India, Sri Lanka) market

“Through MATKA travel mart, we are able to acquire travel agent partners and guests from Nordic countries,” said Ricardo Setiawanto, Director of Panorama Destination. “[The event] has great potential for the company, due to the many wealthy people in these Nordic countries, although one of the challenges we face is the distance required to reach Indonesia. We therefore have to be creative and combine Indonesia with other destinations in ASEAN, in order to make the journey more appealing,” he continued.

Foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia indicate strong growth from year to year. This number reached 11.63% between January to November 2018 compared to the same period in 2017. Looking into this positive growth, Panorama Destination will continue to boost foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia, in line with government targets to reach 20 million tourist arrivals in 2019.
