22 January 2019 | Written by Chris Alexander

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is set to build Southeast Asia’s first voco hotel in the Thai capital, following the signing of a management agreement with Thailand’s B&G Estate. The announcement follows the recent debut of voco’s first hotel; voco Gold Coast in Australia, which opened last November.

The latest property, officially named voco Bangkok Sukhumvit 11, will be located close to Nana BTS station and is slated to open for business in 2021. The hotel will offer a total of 300 guest rooms, along with a rooftop restaurant and bar, swimming pool, pool bar and fitness centre. The hotel will also be equipped with meeting facilities that can accommodate up to 400 guests, with the largest meeting room capacity of 200 guests.

“As the world’s most visited destination, Bangkok represents an excellent launch market for one of the newest additions to our brand portfolio,” said Clarence Tan, who is the managing director, South-east Asia & Korea for IHG. “This signing continues the accelerated growth of the voco brand since we launched it last June,” he continued.

IHG has 24 hotels operating under five brands in Thailand, including: InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express and Hotel Indigo, with another 27 in the pipeline for the next three to five years.
