Panorama Destination Awarded SHA Certification by TAT
28 July 2020 | Written by Chris Alexander

Panorama Destination Thailand has been awarded health and safety certification from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT). The latest official award adds to the company’s growing credentials; as Thailand prepares to reopen to international tourism, Panorama Destination is one of several DMCs making the necessary arrangements to ensure the safety of visitors when they return.

In collaboration with various public and private sector partners, TAT aims to elevate Thailand’s tourism industry standards across the board and help develop confidence among international tourists. To that end, TAT has created the “Amazing Thailand Safety and Health Administration” certification (SHA), supporting tour operators like Panorama Destination in their push for standardised safety protocols.

In order to receive SHA certification, Panorama Destination was required to demonstrate compliance with strict guidelines laid out by Thailand’s Department of Disease Control in the Ministry of Public Health. These stipulations relate to hygiene and sanitation in tourism establishments and services; the convenience, cleanliness and safety of linkages between communities and attractions; and standards of health and safety in transportation, including private cars, public buses and airlines.

“SHA is the latest in a line of innovative safety standards that will ultimately help us deliver peace of mind to our clients,” says Nicola Scaramuzzino, who is Country Manager of Panorama Destination Thailand. “In addition to SHA, we have also signed up to the ‘Thailand Hygiene Plus Initiative (THPI)’ and the ‘Safe Travels’ campaign by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), giving us standardisation at both international and local levels for health and safety protocols” explained Mr. Scaramuzzino. “With each of these measures in place, we are confident we can offer safe, secure, and most of all enjoyable travel experiences to clients in Thailand,” he added.

Certified by the SHA programme, the Thailand Hygiene Plus Initiative (THPI) has been developed by a group of leading DMCs operating in Thailand’s tourism industry, including Panorama Destination. These standards cover six areas, namely offices, staff, ground teams, meals, vehicles and transportation, and sports equipment and facilities. Additionally, the WTTC safety stamp represents the latest guidelines and safety measures for tourism providers relating to hospitality, attractions, outdoor retail, aviation, airports, cruises, convention centres and MICE.

Approved by WHO and CDC, the WTTC protocols include insights, toolkits and standard operating procedures for the tourism industry to follow, enabling standardised service and stringent protective measures for Panorama Destination clients in Thailand. Tour operators displaying this stamp are shown to be in compliance with globally recognised health and hygiene protocols.
