Vietnam’s Beauty Recognised by Rough Guides
25 March 2019 | Written by Chris Alexander

Earlier this year, Vietnam was listed as one of the world’s top 20 most beautiful countries by Rough Guides, a UK travel guidebook and reference publisher. The complete list is based on the votes of readers worldwide, collected from Rough Guides’ social media channels.

Rough Guides points out on its website that Vietnam offers a wealth of easily accessible and naturally beautiful locations, starting from the impressive rock formations of Ha Long Bay and continuing to the terraced rice fields of mountainous Sa Pa. The award also mentions two of the alluring cities in Vietnam: the modern skyscrapers of Ho Chi Minh City and the appealing contrasts of Hanoi.

According to Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnam welcomed 15.5 million foreign arrivals, 80 million domestic tourist trips and earned a total revenue of VND620 trillion (US$26.6 billion) in 2018. It was considered a successful year for Vietnam’s tourism industry as the country surpassed its tourism targets. For 2019, Vietnam aims to welcome 18 million foreign tourists and 85 million domestic ones.

Vietnam has also been named among Forbes Travel Guide’s 14 Top Destinations of 2019. The US Business Magazine states that the Buddhist pagodas remain breathtaking and the festivals continue to be vibrant. Some activities in Vietnam that are highlighted by the magazine are: InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort’s basket boat piloting and lantern-making lessons, Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai, Hoi An’s new spa services and Pullman Danang Beach Resort’s Vietnamese coffee-making class
