World Bank shows how integrated tourism is boosting communities in Indonesia

The joint initiative centres on sustainable tourism development that benefits both people and the environment, making the most out of Indonesia’s exceptional natural landscapes and rich cultural heritage.

Bali introduces comprehensive guidelines for foreign tourists
The Bali Provincial Government has issued Circular Letter containing new regulations that outline obligations, prohibitions and sanctions for foreign tourists, who are required to respect the sanctity of temples, statues and sacred religious icons. The new circular order mandates that foreign tourists wear modest and appropriate clothing, especially when visiting sacred sites, tourist attractions and public places. Foreign tourists are also expected to behave respectfully in holy areas, tourist locations, restaurants, shopping areas, streets and public places. The Bali Provincial Government also mandates that foreign tourists pay a levy of Rp150,000 before departure or during their stay in Bali.

Flights to Bali disrupted by Mount Lewotobi eruption
Travelling to Bali? As per the recent reports, a volcanic explosion has led to the cancellation of flights from Vietnam. Air travel in the area was severely disrupted due to the recent eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki Laki in Indonesia, which is located on the island of Flores. Many flights, especially those going to the well-known tourist destination of Bali, were cancelled or delayed as a result of the volcano’s eruption, which sent an ash column around 9 kilometres (5.6 miles) into the sky.

Tourism minister focuses promotion efforts on Germany
Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana boosted Indonesia’s tourism promotion mission internationally during a working visit to Berlin, Germany, from 4-6 March 2025. The tourism promotion mission was carried out through Indonesia’s participation in the world’s largest tourism exchange, the Internationale Tourismus-Börse (ITB) Berlin 2025. In the bilateral meeting, the minister outlined her five flagship programmes – namely the Clean Tourism Movement; Tourism 5.0 through AI and Digitalization; Upgrading Tourism through gastronomy, marine and wellness tourism; Event organizing with Original Indonesian Intellectual Property (IP); and Tourism Villages.
