Despite widespread demonstrations in late August and travel advisories from several countries, Indonesia’s key tourist regions—especially in West Nusa Tenggara, including Mandalika, Sembalun, and the Gili islands—remain calm, fully operational, and unaffected by political unrest, with daily life and tourism infrastructure continuing as usual.

Indonesia Welcomes 8.5 Million Foreign Arrivals Per July 2025  

The Ministry of Tourism reports that foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia reached 8.5 million as of July 2025, a 10 percent increase compared with the same period last year. “In 2024, Indonesia welcomed 13.9 million foreign tourists, up 19 percent from the previous year,” said Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana here on Saturday. “Meanwhile, as of July 2025, 8.5 million tourists have been recorded,” she added.

Government Focuses Promotion Efforts on the Riau Islands  

The Ministry of Tourism is strengthening promotion and expanding penetration of the Indonesian tourism market, particularly for the Riau Islands destination to the Singapore market, through the implementation of Batam Bintan Welcome You (BBWY) II Festival. The activity, which was held on September 1–7, 2025 at Sengkang Grand Mall, Singapore, was part of a series of integrated promotions for destinations in Batam and Bintan.

Adventure Tourism on the Rise, Indonesia Ready to Capitalise  

Adventure tourism is emerging as one of the fastest-growing global travel trends, with visitors seeking not only leisure but also challenging and authentic experiences tied to culture, Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism said Tuesday. Speaking at the National Conference of the Indonesian Adventure Travel Trade Association (IATTA), Deputy Assistant for Industry Management Budi Supriyanto said Indonesia holds vast potential as a world-class destination, with mountains, seas, forests and cultural sites suitable for adventure products.
