Viet Nam Grants Visa Exemptions to Citizens of 12 Countries  

In a bid to boost international arrivals, the Government has announced a new resolution granting visa exemptions under its tourism stimulus programme to citizens of Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland.

Million Tourists the Target for 2025  

Vietnam’s tourism sector is aiming for a very ambitious target of 25 million international visitors this year. Although it is still the low season for international tourism, the positive growth results in the past 8 months have shown promising signs for the inbound tourism market. The total number of foreign visitors from January to August was nearly 14 million, an increase of 21.7% compared to the same period in 2024. Major markets recording good growth rates include China, Japan and India.

Vietnam Tourism Recovery the Highest in Southeast Asia  

Vietnam’s tourist arrivals after the Covid-19 pandemic recovered to 98 percent in 2024. This is the highest figure in Southeast Asia. Followed by Malaysia in second place with a recovery rate of 94 percent, Thailand 88 percent, Singapore 86 percent, Indonesia 86 percent and the Philippines 72 percent. The ranking is based on data from the Secretariat of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) quoted by the Vietnam National Tourism Administration.

Digital Promotion Helps to Boost International Arrivals  

The Vietnam Tourism Association (VITA) held a conference in Hanoi on 18 September to roll out an action programme aimed at achieving the tourism growth targets set for 2025. The programme, part of the Government’s Resolution 226/NQ-CP, is designed to mobilise local authorities, businesses and destinations to accelerate the sector’s development, to welcome 25 million international visitors and 150 million domestic travellers this year.
