New Phu Quoc-Hong Kong air route boosts tourism ties  

Sun PhuQuoc Airways (SPA) officially launched a direct air route connecting Vietnam’s Phu Quoc Island and China’s Hong Kong on 22 May, aiming to help strengthen bilateral tourism and cultural cooperation. In the initial phase, the route will operate five flights per week, with plans to gradually increase the frequency in the coming time. The launch of the direct route is expected to enhance connectivity, while promoting tourism and cultural exchanges between Vietnam and Hong Kong.

Number of Australian travellers in Vietnam reaches ten-year high  

Australian Bureau of Statistics data shows that a decade ago Vietnam was the fifth most common south-east Asian destination for short-term overseas travel. By 2024 it had jumped up two spots to become the third most visited country in the region, overtaking Singapore and Malaysia. The total number of Australian residents returning from short trips to Vietnam has more than doubled since 2016, from 246,000 to 528,000 this year.
