A Festival of Fashion: Jakarta Night Carnival

For fans of fashion, the next few weeks offer an unmissable opportunity for a little retail therapy in the nation’s capital, Jakarta. Held at the city’s Smesco Outdoor Arena, Jakarta Night Carnival 2025 kicked off on 14 March and will run until 14 April. During this month-long celebration of creativity, entrepreneurship and style, visitors can immerse themselves in the finest cultural products Jakarta has to offer.

Jakarta Night Carnival is a landmark collaboration between the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), SMESCO, Jakcloth, Clothing Meet Up (Clome) and Pasar Malam Festival. The event aims to showcase local fashion products by providing a platform for local brands to connect directly with consumers. For travellers in Jakarta, the carnival offers a unique opportunity to sample the city’s creative side.

Speaking at the opening of the event, Indonesia’s Deputy for Small Business at the Ministry of MSMEs, Temmy Satya Permana, emphasised the importance of offering high-quality products to visitors at competitive prices. He said the event’s main aim was to “provide the public with good products at competitive prices, because if a good product is not promoted well, no one will know about it.”

Permana also highlighted the previous year’s collaboration with Jakcloth, as the starting point for Clothing Meet Up (Clome). This year’s event aims to establish Clome as a hub for local products, particularly for MSME entrepreneurs in the fashion sector. “In the future, we will encourage Clome to truly become a home for local products, especially for MSME entrepreneurs in the fashion sector,” he said.

Jakcloth founder Ucok Nasution added that this year there will be a Jakcloth Lebaran roadshow spread across several regions, namely Bekasi, Jakarta, Cikarang, Depok and Lampung. “This year we are holding an offline event 10 days before Eid,” confirmed Nasution, “this (event) is expected to be a favourite for MSME entrepreneurs, especially those engaged in the local fashion sector,” he added.

The carnival not only showcases the diversity of local fashion, but also offers a comprehensive cultural experience through its culinary offerings. The festival features no fewer than 70 clothing and multi-product brands, complemented by 40 culinary stands, which help to create a vibrant atmosphere for attendees to enjoy.

Through a combination of food, fashion and entertainment, Jakarta Night Carnival 2025 offers travellers a colourful and creative night out, and the chance to explore the creative landscape in one of Southeast Asia’s most vibrant cities. Whether staying for a while or just passing through, visitors are sure to find inspiration – and a few bargains too!

Jakarta Night Carnival 2025 will be open until 13 April at the Smesco Outdoor Arena on Jl. Gatot Subroto in South Jakarta.
