Indonesia prepares Ijen Geopark for UNESCO Green Card
Indonesia has begun preparations for the revalidation of Ijen UNESCO Global Geopark ahead of an Aug. 3-7 evaluation, aiming to retain its green card status and preserve its place in the UNESCO Global Geoparks network. Minister of Tourism Widyanti Putri Wardhana convened a coordination meeting with national and regional stakeholders in Banyuwangi, East Java, on Saturday to align preparations for the mandatory four-year UNESCO assessment.

Singapore Tourism Board teams up with TransNusa to grow Indonesian traffic
The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has signed its first strategic partnership with Indonesian carrier TransNusa to strengthen air connectivity between Indonesia and Singapore. The collaboration will leverage TransNusa’s expanding domestic network and operational hubs in Jakarta, Bali and Manado to attract travellers from beyond Indonesia’s major metropolitan gateways. TransNusa currently operates three daily flights between Jakarta and Singapore, two daily services from Denpasar, and an extensive network across eastern Indonesia.

Indonesia focuses on developing globally competitive wellness tourism
Indonesia is focusing on developing high-quality and globally competitive wellness tourism. “Wellness tourism has been designated as one of our priorities in developing quality tourism,” Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana said at press conference here on Thursday (16/7). She announced that, as part of the effort, the government’s new “Wonderful Indonesia Wellness” programme will run throughout November 2026, uniting the Royal Surakarta Wellness Festival and the Jogja Cultural Wellness Festival.

Indonesian projects Samota as global marine tourism hub
The Tourism Ministry reinforced support for efforts to develop the Samota Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara, into a world-class marine tourism destination to boost the economy and improve welfare. “The Samota SEZ represents a strategic asset for Indonesia’s tourism, blending marine beauty, conservation wealth, and culture in one integrated area,” Deputy Tourism Minister Ni Luh Puspa said in a statement cited in Jakarta on Saturday (25/7).
