Thailand plans to legalize casinos in win for tourism
Thailand’s plan to legalise casinos is headed to its parliament, putting the country a step closer to realising a years-long proposal to attract foreign investment and boost tourism. The draft bill, formally approved by the cabinet on Thursday, proposes that casinos be housed within the so-called integrated entertainment complexes, where they can take up no more than 10% of the premises. To prioritise foreign tourists, the draft legislation also contains restrictions that would effectively bar regular Thai citizens from gambling in the casinos.

Promoting sustainability, the festival boasted initiatives like “Zero Waste to Landfills” and encouraged the use of public transport options. To facilitate low-impact attendance, an app provided venue maps and activity alerts. The festival also offered zones dedicated to sustainable travel goals, showcasing innovations like the plastic waste Bryde’s whale sculpture and offering discussions on environmental responsibility. The event underscored TAT’s dedication to making tourism a sustainable force for good.
