Online system to replace paper arrival forms in Thailand from 1 May 2025  

The Thai Ministry of Interior has announced a new law that will see the traditional paper-based TM.6 arrival and departure forms replaced with an online system from 1st May 2025. The move is designed to streamline the entry process for visitors and provide a fillip to Thailand’s important tourism industry.

Thailand targets high-value travellers to fuel long-haul tourism growth  

From 1 January to 21 April 2025, Thailand welcomed over 11.35 million visitors, according to the Immigration Bureau. Long-haul markets showed particularly strong year-on-year growth: the United Kingdom – 423,324 (+20.61%), Germany – 407,378 (+13.14%), France – 364,262 (+22.65%), the United States – 379,472 (+12.83%), Australia – 255,420 (+16.85%), Israel – 131,958 (+97.43%), Italy – 114,808 (+28.6%), the Netherlands – 94,074 (+17.88%), Spain – 52,629 (+17.75%) and Saudi Arabia – 43,356 (+15.26%).

Thailand welcomes over 11 million foreign tourists from Jan-April 2025  

Thailand’s tourism sector experienced significant growth in early 2025, with over 11.27 million international visitors arriving by 20 April, generating more than 540.6 billion THB (US$16 billion) in revenue. Chinese tourists led the influx with 1.52 million arrivals, followed by visitors from Malaysia, Russia, India, and South Korea. Although there was a temporary decline in tourist numbers following the Songkran holiday in mid-April, the ministry anticipates a rebound, supported by additional flights from Thai Airways, ongoing tourism and sports promotions, and government initiatives designating 2025 as Thailand’s “Year of Tourism and Sports”.

Cambodia backs ‘Two Kingdoms, One Destination’ joint tourism promotion plan  

Thailand and Cambodia are advancing the “Two Kingdoms, One Destination” mechanism in parallel. The endorsement was made during Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra’s two-day official visit to Cambodia, which concluded on 24 April. During her visit, Paetongtarn met with Cambodia’s top leadership and had an audience with His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni.
