Thailand welcomes 21 million tourists in first 8 months of 2025
Tourism and Sports Minister Sarawong Thianthong revealed that nearly 21 million foreign tourists have visited Thailand in almost eight months, generating approximately 992 billion baht. Chinese tourists, numbering 3 million, surpassed Malaysians, making them the top visitors. As of 24 August, Thailand had welcomed 21 million foreign tourists since 1 January 2025, bringing in 992,058 million baht (US$30 million) in revenue. The top five nationalities included 3,025,170 Chinese visitors, 2,949,361 Malaysians, 1,526,404 Indians, 1,180,173 Russians, and 1,011,612 South Koreans.

International visitors to get 200,000 free domestic flights in Thailand
Thailand is gearing up to launch an exciting new initiative aimed at encouraging international visitors to explore the country’s lesser-known destinations. The Tourism and Sports Ministry, led by Minister Sorawong Thienthong, has proposed a budget of 700 million baht to subsidize free domestic flights for foreign tourists arriving in Thailand. This programme, if approved by the Cabinet, will run from August to December 2025, with travel dates set between September and November.

Thailand bids to host Tomorrowland festival for 5 years
Thailand will host the iconic Tomorrowland music festival from next year, aiming to lure high-spending travellers and bolster its tourism-reliant economy. The Cabinet approved a budget of two billion baht (S$79 million) to organise the festival for five years through 2031, Tourism Minister Sorawong Thienthong told reporters on Tuesday (26 Aug). The festival will be held at Wisdom Valley near the tourist hot spot of Pattaya. Tomorrowland is one of the world’s biggest electronic dance music festivals, drawing hundreds of thousands of fans from over 200 countries to its elaborate stages in Boom in Belgium each year.
