New Alcohol Regulations to Support Safer, More Responsible Travel
From 8 November 2025, drinkers of alcohol in Thailand will be liable for fines of up to 10,000 baht (S$400) for drinking alcohol in legal establishments once the allowed time is over. The Department of Provincial Administration verified this new fine under an amendment to the Alcoholic Beverage Control Act, which before only barred the sale of alcohol outside of authorised hours but did not punish individual consumers. This revision extends responsibility to private consumers, holding them liable for breaking the new regulations, especially those drinking during prohibited hours.
