Know Before You Go: Thailand’s New Digital Arrival Cards

Thailand is set to modernise its entry procedures with the introduction of a mandatory digital arrival card for all foreign visitors, effective 1 May 2025. This new system, known as the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC), replaces the traditional paper-based TM6 form, and aims to streamline immigration processes while also improving safety through enhanced security measures.

Key Features of the TDAC

  • Mandatory Pre-Arrival Submission: All international travellers, regardless of visa status or mode of entry (air, land or sea), are required to complete the TDAC online within 72 hours before arriving in Thailand.
  • Comprehensive Information Collection: The digital form gathers essential personal details, passport information, travel itinerary, accommodation address in Thailand and a basic health declaration.
  • Integration with Government Systems: The TDAC is linked with various Thai government agencies, including the Department of Consular Affairs, the Department of Disease Control and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, ensuring efficient data verification and enhanced security.
  • Multilingual Support: To facilitate a smooth transition, the Immigration Bureau has produced informational materials in multiple languages, including English, Chinese, Korean, Russian and Japanese. This will assist travellers in understanding and completing the TDAC.

Important Information for Travel Agents

The implementation of the TDAC is part of Thailand’s broader initiative to modernise its tourism infrastructure and improve the overall travel experience. By digitising the arrival process, the country aims to reduce wait times at immigration checkpoints, enhance the accuracy of traveller information and bolster public health monitoring.

Travellers are advised to complete the TDAC well in advance of their journey to ensure a seamless entry into Thailand. Failure to present a completed TDAC upon arrival may result in denied entry. For more information and to access the TDAC, visitors should consult the official Thai immigration website or contact their local Thai embassy or consulate.
