Hello from Bangkok!
First of all, I’m happy to report that the situation at the Thailand-Cambodia border has eased and things have returned to normal. Tourists can continue to enjoy safe and uninterrupted travel in Thailand, and those wishing to visit Cambodia can do so easily by air. Additionally, Thailand’s Health Ministry has introduced new regulations regarding cannabis, reclassifying it as a controlled herb – something to be aware of for visiting guests.
As we step into the heart of summer, there’s plenty to look forward to here in Thailand. July brings two national holidays: Asarnha Bucha Day on the 10th and the King’s Birthday on the 28th. Please note that our office will be closed on both these dates. But the real highlight of the month is the spectacular Ubon Ratchathani Candle Festival, held from 9-13 July. This event features extraordinary candle sculptures, a magical nighttime parade and immersive sound and light shows that celebrate local craftsmanship and culture. I highly recommend it for travellers seeking a unique cultural experience.
Nature lovers won’t want to miss the Krachiao Flower Festival, taking place now through August at Pa Hin Ngam and Sai Thong National Parks. The blooming fields of pink Siam tulips (Dok Krachiao) are a breathtaking sight and a favourite among photographers.
This month, our spotlight is on Ubon Ratchathani, one of Thailand’s hidden gems. We’re promoting key attractions in the area including Pha Taem National Park, the majestic rock formations of Sam Pan Boak, and the luminous beauty of Wat Sirindhorn Wararam, also known as the Glow-in-the-Dark Temple. More details are available here: Ubon Ratchathani Travel Guide.
As we gear up for the high season, we’re seeing increased arrivals from the Netherlands and wider Benelux region, with groups and FIT travellers beginning their journeys across Thailand this week. Their itineraries span 16–20 days, showcasing the country’s diverse attractions from north to south.
We’re also currently recruiting licensed English-speaking guides (Thai nationals only). Interested candidates can apply via email at: pdesthailand@panorama-destination.com
Finally, a quick weather update: rainfall has been lighter than expected, and most days across Thailand are still sunny – perfect weather for enjoying everything the country has to offer. Hotels are running some great seasonal promotions, so please reach out to us for the latest deals.
Best wishes,
Pat Pattaranan Sappattarabune
