Panorama Group has announced a strategic partnership with Malaysia Airlines, aimed at strengthening travel flows between Indonesia and Malaysia, while also opening new opportunities for crossborder tourism across the wider ASEAN region. The agreement, signed at the MATTA Fair in Kuala Lumpur, includes joint marketing campaigns, special flight promotions and integrated travel packages designed to appeal to both leisure and business travellers.
Under the new memorandum of understanding (MoU), Panorama and Malaysia Airlines will collaborate on route development and promotional strategies, combining Panorama’s expertise in tour operation with the airline’s extensive flight network. Initial efforts will focus on boosting reciprocal travel between Indonesia to Malaysia, with packages highlighting popular destinations such as Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi and Sabah. To encourage inbound tourism to Indonesia, this partnership will leverage Malaysia Airlines’ international connections to attract travellers from markets including Singapore, Thailand, Japan and Australia.
The initiative comes at a time when both Indonesia and Malaysia are seeking to strengthen their positions in the competitive Southeast Asian travel market. By pooling resources, the partners hope to enhance connectivity, reduce costs for consumers and create more compelling offerings for the travel trade. Industry observers see the move as a significant boost for regional tourism recovery, with the potential to support local economies on both sides of the border.
Panorama Group’s CEO, Budi Tirtawisata, commented that the collaboration reflects a shared vision of “unlocking the full potential of travel in Southeast Asia by providing travellers with seamless, valuedriven experiences.” Malaysia Airlines representatives added that the partnership would allow the airline to “expand our reach and strengthen our role as a bridge connecting ASEAN’s most dynamic destinations.”
For B2B partners, the partnership signals new opportunities for collaboration. Tour operators can develop themed itineraries combining destinations across Malaysia and Indonesia, while hotels and attractions can benefit from coordinated promotional pushes targeting specific market segments. With Malaysia Airlines already operating one of the most comprehensive route networks in Asia, the potential to capture transit traffic and encourage multi-destination travel is particularly strong.
As the region moves towards Visit Malaysia 2026, the Panorama–Malaysia Airlines alliance is well placed to deliver on the promise of sustainable growth, cross-border cooperation and enriched visitor experiences.
