The long-awaited Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign from Tourism Malaysia has finally begun, with India one of the first strategic locations to be the focal point of promotions in the year ahead. The decision reflects the importance of Indian travellers to the Malaysian market, and is indicative of Malaysia’s ambition to attract 1.6 million arrivals from the subcontinent in 2025.
From 19–21 February, Tourism Malaysia used the SATTE 2025 (South Asia’s Travel & Tourism Exchange) show in New Delhi to announce the campaign and showcase their latest offerings. Earlier this year, the agency was also actively involved in events in other major Indian cities, including Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Kochi.
Backed by a series of high-impact travel trade initiatives, the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign is expected to generate interest and strengthen Malaysia’s appeal in key source markets, including India. Central to this promotional push is new products and destinations that capitalise on growing demand for golf tourism, weddings and leisure holidays.
To further entice Indian travellers, familiarisation (fam) trips for Indian travel agents and media professionals are currently being organised in partnership with airlines such as IndiGo and Air India. These trips will provide additional, personalised exposure to Malaysia’s tourism offerings, consolidating the country’s standing as a preferred travel destination for Indian tourists.
With a bespoke promotional strategy supported by various new products and initiatives, Visit Malaysia 2026 is set to make a strong impact in India, further strengthening tourism ties between the two nations. In total, the global campaign aims to attract 35.6 million visitors.
According to the Tourism Malaysia website, the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign “brings out the best of what Malaysia has to offer to the world in a single, event-packed year.” We can expect many more developments and promotions in the months ahead.
